Discussion: THE LIST / 1000p Raven Guard custom mission list

Hi I'm looking for some feedback on a list I've built for the following mission:

Raid (suggested 100-1500p):
The defending player sets up d6 objectives (supply crates or barrels) to a minimum of 3 (a roll of 1 or 2 counts as 3) at least 6 from the table edge and 9 from each other. Objectives can be raided by infantry units by forfeiting shooting, charging and fighting during a turn. At the end of turn 5, count the amount of objectives raided. (the objectives give resources for a campaign)


I'll be going up against Iron hands and so far I've built the following list:

Vanguard Detachment 1000p
[HQ] Captain - bolt pistol and powersword 78p

[Troops] Scout squad - Scout sargeant, 6 scouts with sniper rifles and camo cloaks. 126p

[Elites] Contemptor Dreadnought - close combat weapon and kheres assault canon 165p
sternguard veteran squad - 5 marines with special issue bolt guns 90p
tartaros terminator squad - 5 terminators with power fists, grenade harness and reaper autocannon
fw relic sicaran venator tank destroyer - heavy bolter and 2 sponsor lascannons 230p

[Fast Attack] Assault Squad - 5 marines with jump packs, chainswords and bolt pistols 80p

Discussion: Eldar / Escalation league eldar - where to go

So I'm playing an escalation legue with eldar. The dawn of war 3 trailer totally sold me and now that I'm painting up my first 500 points I don't regret it one bit. Now I do have a bit of an idea of where to go with this army but I'dd still like some advice on how to set it up well and how to use the units even.

First off I'm not using any jetbikes and so far no transports or vehicles either. My first 500 points exist of a farseer, 2 dire avenger squads, warp spiders (which I already love to bits and not just for their jump shenanigans) and wraithblades. I already have more wraithblades, a wraithlord and howling banshees and conversion farseers laying around, bit I'dd like to hear soms opinions on what to add next.

I had a look at the (pinion) demi battle company bit I felt I would lack toughness (I don't use rhino's or razorbacks) I also chose the command squad as it has the option to take special weapons for the full squad (over combi) so to have some dedicated at (and they're cheaper than sternguard in that respect). I do feel they're quite fragile though and at 175 points a cheaper alternative would be nice.

Infiltrate just gives you some nice options, especially in combination with scout moves, so imo yes. That and I need them for the rg shadowstrike killteam formation anyways, giving them camocloaks so they can survive and possibly a teleport homer to guide in a drop pod. Stick them in ruins and they'll last longer than your opponent might want them to.

If you're not going footsloging trenchwarfare infantry, take chimera's. They'll get your guardsmen where they're needed for grabbing objectives or doing a melta/plasma driveby, and aren't too bad shot themselves. The second choice would probably be the leman russ (and the fw: thunderer) as they have good options giving you both a nice range of firepower and some tough models.

I play my sentinels armoured and usually stock. 3 strenght 6 shot's is good against most infantry, light vehicles and the occasional medium armour vehicle (av12, side armour, that kind of stuff), especially in pairs of 3 (9 s6 shots). Taking autocannons makes them only less cheap and loses you an extra shot, which I wouldn't find it worth trading for that extra 1 strength. Onother option would perhaps be taking the plasma's on armoured sentinels, giving them camo and then sticking them behind some solid cover or another tank. I'dd say just have a look at what you think is fun and what you don't have already in your army. Sentinels can basicly be your more mobile heavy weapon squads.

If you're planning on taking many or want orders on them consider the emperors talon recon company. Not only gives it armoured sentinels the possibility to outflanks as well, but you get one commander that can issue from a small selection of orders which aren't bad. It's a fun formation to use that isn't too expensive if you keep your sentinels cheap :)

Edit: I just saw the date of the post and I'm pretty sure you build that kit a long time ago ^^ but perhaps someone else might find this usefull.

Hi all,

Last weekend I used this list on a tournament, winning 2 out of 3 missions, losing to being alpha striked and out gunned by 2 storm talons. I also played the same list against necrons once winning barely by killing all but a full squad of lych guard and an overlord. One problem I have is that the one reserve I have to roll for usually doesn't come in in time. I would like some critique on how to further improve this list. Thanks for having a look if you did.

Combined arms detachment:

HQ
- librarian, force sword and the raven's fury (relic jump pack), divination

Elites
- command squad of 5, 5 melta guns, drop pod

Troops
- tactical squad of 5
- tactical squad of 5

Heavy support
- contemptor dreadnought with kheres pattern assault cannon
- FW: fire raptor gunship with hellstrike missiles

Formations:

Shadowstrike killteam
(basically allowing for deepstrike and charge on the vanguards and the reserve-roll result to be chosen)

- scout squad of 5, camo cloaks
- scout squad of 5, camo cloaks

- vanguard veteran squad of 5, 5 twin lightning claws
- vanguard veteran squad of 5, 5 twin lightning claws

That's the list. It basicly has the scouts there to infiltrate and grab objectives as well as to guide the vanguards, the librarian to buff them with prescience, the command squad to get rid of anything heavy that needs te be gotten rid of and to burn a turn and lastly the fire raptor as support to keep momentum and as anti-air if needed.

Discussion: THE LIST / Imperial Guard 1250p Mechanized Panzer Division

Hi all. I've been playing my guard ghost division themed army for some time but haven't had a lot of succes so far. I recently used this 1250p list going up against an unknown enemy, turned out to be genestealers who carved my tanks to shreds. Feels like I need more punch in my army, though I don't want a passive army that's just sitting back. I'dd very much appreciate the feedback ^^

Hq - tank commander exterminator with lascanon, dozerblade and camonetting. Second tank identical.
Troops - veteran squad with 2 plasma guns, chimera with autocannon (loses h.bolter)
Veteran squad with 2 melta guns, chimera with autocannon (loses h.bolter)
Veteran squad with heavy flamer, chimera with multilaser and hullmounted h.bolter
Heavy support - thunderer, stock
Lord of war - Macharius Battle Tank, stock
