Discussion: THE LIST / Re: 2000pt Fluffy Raptors Chapter List
« on: August 10, 2017, 03:24:20 PM »
a couple of updates with the new codex is that rifle dreads arent a thing so your venerables can't take 2 autocannons. They also made it so lasplas razorbacks are not a thing either. other than that I feel that if your going to run sternguard to give them a pod and combi weapons. I would also advise some more troops, you are going to need objective takers and a few five man squads in razorbacks could help. hope this helps!

A pretty decent list, but a little bit of advice. I would say cut the land raider, you're paying a lot of points to transport tacticals, if you switched it with 2 razorbacks with heavy bolters you could have an additional 219pts to put into more troops or some heavy support like devastators or a predator. I would also change your HQ's, for example a librarian and a captain as they could sit in the razorbacks with the tacticals and librarians are very good with their smite power. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I am a die hard iron hands fan, I love their fluff, their cold calculating nature and their use of dreadnoughts and armored columns. Yes, our 6+ FNP isn't that great but our stratagem is what makes me stick with them. this stratagem with a redemptor with double onslaught gatling cannons moves 8" and fires 18 heavy bolter shots on hitting on 3+ for 1CP. I think the chapter tactics are just a bonus on top of the statagem and In my personal experience, rolling a few six's in the game has kept a few more marines on the field. I mean sure, its only on a six but its better than not getting anything.

Discussion: THE LIST / 2000pt SM Iron hands list
« on: August 10, 2017, 01:09:56 PM »
After seeing the new codex and units I have built this list using the iron hands chapter tactics. The game plan for this army is to have troops take objectives and hold areas while the dreads and pred move up and shoot at everything in their path while hellblasters and devastators fire at heavy targets from a distance. The techmarines sit behind the dreads repairing them while they advance. That is my list, any comments are welcome. Cheers!

This is my list so far. Now that objectives are based on numbers instead of obj secured I feel like allying with guard is almost mandatory to help with the small numbers marines have. Tell me what you guys think. Cheers!

Seeing how you are a little low on troops, I would highly reccomend a dedicated transport for your marines. You don't need an expensive razorback, at least run drop pods. Definitely run a demi company of some sort just to have a good base for your army to build off of.

I would say you should try to fit your army into the new detachment for raven guard, The new supplement has given you benefits based on your chapter and it could help with your reserves problem. I would say start with the pinion demi company and if you have enough points the kill team as well. I would not use a dreadnought as he doesn't have much of a buff thanks to chapter tactics(Iron hands) and also the raptor. your command squad seems like they are trying to be a sternguard squad so you might want to cut them. Hope this helps, cheers!

I would say start with the formations and detachments from the codex and if you don't have the new supplement then get it, it has some really good buffs based on the chapter you play. But if you are doing ultramarines then go with double demi company. Free transports plus everthing has objective secured and you get a bunch of doctrines. Hope this helps mate. Cheers!

I like the list! maybe find points for the mindforge stave on the bike librarian. Also maybe an ironclad? Also you should commit if you want shooty command squad or smashy command squad. If you want smashy I would say apothecary and four power fists and storm shields. Put the captain in front and your chances of losing marines in that squad is very little except for Str10 and D. Good to see another iron hands player. The flesh is weak!
