No Problem mate, it's a really simple idea adapted from one I found in a blog post, I've kept the materials simple on the build. The spires apparently are actually called capillary towers and are made from thin card, masking tape and hot glue. I was thinking of putting a video up with a 'how to' type thing as the blog post is a bit different to what i've done.

Starting to add some colour to this now, the carapace segments are pretty much done, still to finish is the slime pool, the random rocks and the fleshy underside to the spires.

I've used thin card and hot glue for the spires. The base is made from a thin sheet of mdf some cork the bubbles are greenstuff and the random rocks are thin blue foam. The slime itself is just pva. Oh and there's some filler on the base with some grit / sand for texture.

Nice. Planning on making a whole tyranid themed terrain set?
Don't try making a unit unkillable. its a waste of time and the dice gods laugh at you for wasting your time. Dedicate a unit to a job and make sure it does it til it's either dead or running.

only this and the mycetic spore pod mate, they will go towards showcase pieces for making terrain commissions and also going to a good friend of mine for the feast fest competition ending soon. i'll be throwing together some orky bits for Mike too so he'll have 4 large bits of terrain for his table, he'll only need some scatter pieces I think.

I do have some potential set requests though so will see if they work out.
