Tyranid Mycetic spore pod (alternative look)
« on: July 22, 2014, 01:01:33 PM »
Hi Guys,

Here's the next piece i'm working on (clients aware that you cant use it as a drop pod) a mycetic spore pod terrain piece. I have a short window in which to get this and my next 2 pieces done so expect quick and regular updates on this while i'm also using it to build up my portfolio of things for the terrain commission side of things.

So far only started working on the impact of the base along with the scultpting of the actual pod itself. The pod is styled more like the bullet type drop pods from the first transformers movie just a little more niddy. :)

Update on last nights progress, managed to get some scultping done on the internals of the upper half, sand / glued the base so I just need to seal that and it's read to paint. I should get the majority of the inner sculpting done today and then get some more apoxie in the next day or so and I can crack on with that.

Let me know what you think guys!

Been working on the terrain studio admin side of things mainly today but here's an update on the pod from last night, I managed to get most of the brain area done with the detailing on the brain itself needing doing, this piece now fits the lower half nice and snug. I've also finished the rib framework, filled out the gaps in the spine and also started working on the webbing in the gaps between ribs. I then ran out of apoxie, but as you can see in the pic I have a new bag so onwards and upwards this piece should hopefully be done by the end of the weekend.

quick update, been a helluva day and only managed to get a bit done on this. The inner webbing is pretty much finished with some detailing needed on the brain section before the 'inside half' of the pod is ready to paint. then it's some finishing touches to the lower half and also the carapace on top to sculpt and this ones ready to go! The I get to start having fun with orky stuff, namely a quick fix and basing on an old gorkamorka fort which needs a wall completely redoing and some interesting features added to the base and a complete build from scratch of a mek shop loosely based on the one in the dawn of war games... all by the 6th of August! busy busy!

Quick update, carapace work has begun!!! The replacement apoxie is a slightly different colour but it wont matter once it's primed anyway, i've taken a couple of WIP shots to show the stages of applying the putty and making the overall shape of the hull. I've also included some bonus pics of the pick-up i made off the gumtree site, all of these goodies for 10 and will really help with the next set of terrain pieces!
