Thousand Sons start up
« on: February 15, 2017, 09:46:51 AM »
Hello there, I'm looking at making an effective chaos army.
What units should I look at including in the army?

I'm looking at making this army using the betrayal at Calth for a starting point and looking to expand. I want this army to have a Thousand son theme but due to them being costly point wise I thought about having a small 5 man unit.

Any ideas greatly apreciated :)

I'm also starting up Thousand Sons, using the burning of Prospero as a start mixing in the old armor and the new kits. I'm also realizing the rubric marines I bought are very expensive and it seems they really are only good against expensive power armor, anything else seems overkill. I only have the generic codex but my local group is pretty casual I don't think they'd have an issue using the Tzneetch daemon kit as cultists.

Anyway I'm rambling but I'm looking for tips as well, been out of the hobby since 4th ed so I have a lot of catching up.

If you haven't already, take a look at Traitor Legions. For any army built upon one of the legions it is a must and will go a good way to helping you out.

I've been planning on picking it up, on a bit of a budget at the moment so what I have is what I'll be playing with for a while but I do want to plan ahead if that makes sense. I'll be building some of them into a kill-team for the meantime also.

The new Rubricae in Traitor Legions get epic flamers so despite being expensive, they can be equipped to deal with elite squads of heavy infantry or mobs of light troops.

Also, some of new relics and psychic powers are funny as heck.

Some are still throwing spears at the buses.

I did pickup a box of the Rubric Marines and it actually had a stat card in the back with some of the weapon options, looks exciting! Great models too. Is there a place to post pictures of painting projects?
