Neophytes

I have tried to like the scout models, but they just don't do it for me.

Are there any good alternatives to to the scout model?
Would giving tabards to Initates, and declaring marines in "power armor" to be scouts be enough to resolve the issue?
Would such a proxy be acepted at a turnament?

I've seen people model guardsmen to be neophytes.
Don't try making a unit unkillable. its a waste of time and the dice gods laugh at you for wasting your time. Dedicate a unit to a job and make sure it does it til it's either dead or running.

I totally feel you . . . I've never cared for most of the scout models.  I have though always liked the Kasrkin sergeant and, if I didn't only have one metal one from back in the day, would consider converting a few up with some bolt pistols.  I think they'd look pretty cool.

You could kitbash scouts with Bret man at arms.

If you have the cash, you could also use the crusader models from the GK range.  They look pretty awesome and would probably fit in well with the army.

funny you should mention GK crusaders, I was going to use the men-at-arms as crusades.
