I know the Wraightknight comes with:
1 Suncannon
2 Heavy Wraith Cannon
2 Shiruken Cannon
2 Scatter Laser
2 Star Cannon
and one other assembled smaller heavy weapon.  Part #106 and 107 on step 25 of the instructions

What is that supposed to be?
Thanks!

Discussion: Eldar / Eldar Psychic Powers 7th Edition
« on: May 22, 2014, 11:55:18 AM »
Having seen the previews for the new psychic powers, and hearing rumors of the new psychic phase what are your thoughts?

My observations;

Psychic charge pool = total levels of psychic mastery + d6.  This lends iteself to FEWER psychers on the table, not more.  If you take an imaginary +3 from that d6 just for analysis sake and run some scenarios you will see:
Psychic Mastery Level Total (PMLT) + 3 = Total Psychic Charge
One farseer = 3 + 3 = 6 (d6 bonus is 1/2 of total!)
Two farseers = 6 + 3 = 9 (d6 bonus is 1/3 of total  :(  )
Three Farseers = 9 +3 = 12 (d6 bonus is 1/4 of total  >:(  )

So the fewer psychers the better!

Also, it seems to me that Telekenisis is the badassest psychic discipline now, with some seriously strong powers.  If  you are going to roll the psychic dice (methinks I need a special psychic dice pool set now) it's a gamble, so you'd better make it worthwhile now!  And we don't have access!  Lame!  And can someone explain to me how we are going to be summoning deamons from the warp?  I thought Eldar were over creating demonic threats that chase us through the stars for all eternity?

Thanks!

40K Rules Questions / Blind tests - for every hit or after all hits?
« on: March 20, 2014, 12:30:40 PM »
I'm playing a friendly against some Tyranids and there are a load of gargoyles.  My friend reads the blind rule as for each HIT a blind test must be taken (rule quoted here from the BRB)

Any unit hit by a model or weapon with this special rule must immediately take an Initiative test. If the test is passed, all is well - a shouted warning has caused the warriors to avert their gaze.If the Initiative test is failed, all models in the unit are reduced to Weapon Skill and Ballistic Skill 1 until the end of their next turn. Should the attacking unit hit themselves; we assume they are prepared and they automatically pass the test.

In many other cases (like grounding where it is explicitly spelled out) a test has to be made at the end of the phase or attack.  Since they Gargoyles are all attacking at once, the initiative test for averting thine eyes 8) seems like it should only be made once.
Can anyone give us guidance?  Opinions are helpful but only a bit - some precedence from the book or faq would help more.

Thanks!

Discussion: Eldar / Eldar v Swarms - Thoughts on lists
« on: February 25, 2014, 04:01:42 PM »
Remember when everyone freaked out about how 'bad' the new Tyranid dex was?  But then the bat reps started coming in and it turns out they are solid.  I've played a couple of games against them and I have to say, it can be pretty challenging especially because of the diversity of options they can field.
First off it's easy to break them down into Swarm V Nidzilla, but there is more to it than that.
Second off, it's pretty easy to find some general weaknesses (limited shooting range, assault base (6th edition factor), lack of allies) but when you start doing the math several problems arise:

Swarm size - wounds of scoring units can greatly outnumber the maximum wound output of certain army types.
Nidzilla - again wounds against output at high toughness
Strong flying options - Flyrants and Harpys/Hive Crones bring the fight to you very quickly
Balanced lists - In the right mission a well balanced list could pose a problem for most armies with crazy scoring troop count and resilient MCs pooping out more.

I write this to ask your advice on what you think might make for a good anti nid list.  What's the best balanced list we can field against an unknown list from our friendly neighborhood space bugs?  Scythe-guard are a clear winner here for many reasons, but what else?  Are our psychers out of the equation?  Is it worth it to bring some CC?  Their fearless (when in synapse) nature means the usual CC advantages won't help.  Is the Hemlock even worth considering with it's mobile D-scythes?

Here's an experimental list i'm bringing against a friend - never tried a wild ride army like this before, so your advice would be helpful!

Discussion: Eldar / Viable Eldar Assault Army? Is it possible?
« on: January 30, 2014, 10:45:35 AM »
I know Fritz has written and vlogged extensively about his clowns (my favorite since 2nd ed. so lots of love there), but I'd be interested in seeing a CC based army, supported with whatever else you think of.

I'm thinking:

Seer council or Farseer in a WS with some blades or scorpions, maybe banshees.

Outflanking scorpions (probably in a WS as well) with Kahndras to spice things up or

The Avatar with Storm Guardian blob...

Supporting WL with Ghostglaives

Supporting WK with the monster sword

Storm guardians even to hold backfield obj.

Discussion: Eldar / 1850 Competitive list - played, need some help
« on: January 27, 2014, 02:27:01 PM »
Played a couple of games with this list and had some trouble.  First game I just didn't know how to use the WK well enough and got him killed by some wraithcannons (DOH!  He should never have been that close to the WS with the WG inside).

Biggest issue has been engaging with my Mantarch.  Can't seem to get him into combat with the 12" move and then assault roll.  I guess I have to think about where my enemy will be after their turn, and move him into position so that he's w/in 18" of where the target will be after they go.

Any suggestions on deployment / tactics with the list below?  Playing tomorrow with standard battles from BRB.

PS. Played some Grey Knights and my opponent brought two assisins.  One just appeared on turn 3 and got to auto hit my mantarch like D6 times - which auto killed him without a chance to strike back.  Super lame.  How's that fun?
