Tactica - Realspace Raid! - Dark Eldar in Apocalypse
« on: July 14, 2013, 05:58:33 PM »
I wrote like 2 pages worth of tactica and it was deleted... So! Back to the drawing board. I will repost the main body of text, but I open this thread for the discussion of mono - DE tactics (well with some other eldar shtuff in there as well) for apocalypse battles!

Well I was thinking giving Lilith that one use ability where you triple her base attacks then have her charge into some marines might be pretty awesome. Especially if you partner her up with some warlocks from the eldar codex for boosted strength and stuff.

I think the Ravager stratagem is going to be totally mandatory, its just so great against Titans, its not even funny.

Giving combat drugs to warriors might also be pretty fun as well.

The dark kin lack the brute force and metal might of other armies in full scale conflict. Masters of striking fast and hard. I believe the true strength of the dark elda lies fully in the correct application of the new formations, strategic assets and surgical target priority. So. First things first will be a look at the various formations, their added bonuses and what assets they pair up well. Then a look at the individual assets in congunction with the missions and lastly the use of allies as a way to mitigate inherent weaknesses.

The main thing that hurts DE for me is the lack of weapons that have 'apocalyptic scale'. You look over are the craftworld brothers and their 2.5k titan with 24 hullpoints and potentially 8 sD blasts a turn, or the lynx carrying a sonic lance with it's hellstorm flame template which can cover so many models in a single shot.. and we have.. pretty much just the basic weapons the codex gives us. it's definitely a little err.. less impressive. for a pure DE apoc force, i guess i would just run sheer numbers. luckily i have something like 20 guys with blasters, 9 venoms, 6 raiders and 4 ravagers, so i can muster something that's fast moving and dangerous to even the big titans.. still i would like a forgeworld release like the tantulus (which is beautiful) but with a gun which is actually dangerous. I'd happily throw money at that!

The lack of large scale weapons is def a bummer. But there are also some -key- elements to the dark eldars way of war.
Ultimate Mobility
Webway strike strategic asset - allows you to pick three points on the battlefield to use as a table edge! Place these poits in key locations and we can quite literally be comming at the enemy from every angle.
Buffs
In a regular game, our kabalites don't really sand up to say a space marine, but in apocalypse our warriors can match the elite of any army, not only are they atively inexpensive, but can access to combat drugs with the battle stimms strategic asset. Combine that with the wych cult formation and the duke sliscus and you are rolling three times on the chart and applying two of the results. These do not say they don't stack, so you might be looking at +2 str or even 2 pain tokens off the bat!

Sadly this is all moot in the face of some larger units and weapons.
This is where the formations come in.
