Adepticon 2015 - Championship Draft rules
« on: September 15, 2014, 10:26:41 PM »
Armies will consist of 1850 points or less, must be Battle-forged (no Unbound armies), and may be constructed utilizing any of the following options:

0-1 Combined Arms Detachment
0-1 Allied Detachment (may ignore Primary Detachment Faction restriction, see below)
Any number of unique Codex Detachments*
Any number of unique Formations presented in a Data Slate*

*Each specific Codex Detachment and Data Slate Formation is considered unique (0-1) and may not be duplicated

The full details may be found here: http://www.adepticon.org

Seems like there should be a lot of flexibility here without going too crazy, although some might say it'll still get crazy. What do you guys think? And if no-one else noticed . . . Assassins for everyone!

Culexus and Vindicares and Callidus oh my!

I plan on going if I can get my order in before the system crashes and I get locked out.

I signed up for Championship Thursday, Highlander Friday, and Teams Saturday and Sunday. If I made it into the finals for Championship I'd have to forego Highlander but it's not likely anyway. And if it did happen I'd be very happy to have advanced so that works out ok too.

Nice! What army are you playing? At least in general terms so you don't have to give up any secret combos.

I went 1-2. I could have cheesed a victory in game three, but it was against a guy I know so I let it pass. I could have bubble wrapped an objective but left it up to fate, knowing he'd get to consolidate after a combat and that he'd need a 3 to contest the objective. I snuck a victory in the first round vs. an Eldar player, lost hard to Tau in the second round (the guy that took 2nd? 3rd?) because TO placed terrain means huge firing lanes, and then lost vs. a Nurgley Nurgle list in the last round.

My son went 2-1 with Eldar, beating Eldar and Space Wolves and losing to the guy with the Forge World Smorgasbord.

As an inaugural event, I thought it went well--particularly since two guys had to jump in and run it on short notice (the medical issue). I look forward to next year.

Highlander was an interesting mix, I really liked the format. I think it really freed people up to feel comfortable playing whatever codex they wanted since they didn't have to worry about multiple Imperial Knights, Wraithknights, and what have you. I definitely plan on playing again next year. The rise of D weapons will probably have me rethink taking so many tanks. I new I'd be at a disadvantage against fast assault armies but at least they'd have to get to me first. D weapons can make my high point cost tanks disappear real fast.
