PPC workload for December painting log.
« on: December 01, 2015, 10:07:44 PM »
So this is gonna be my workload for this month's PPC.

After seeing all the models not done in the EF and SH I thought it would be too easy a challenge to complete in one month.

I've added some models to make it a little more difficult and on par with the other candidates.
My 5 Nurgle terminators and Typhus are now entries in the contest.

So all together it'll be 30 models to paint in one month. One a day.
They're all primed and ready to go.

I'll be posting all my updates here as I go along.
Wish me luck.

First two all done.

Just a before and after pic for the washes.
Shades make all the difference.

2 new guys up next. Total time for these two maybe 4-5 hours.

Is it it a stylistic choice to keep them bright?  I am personally a fan of the darker colors to give them a more natural hunter aesthetic.  But personal preference aside, they are coming out very very clean.  I've always loved how easily Tyranid skin pops out with a good skilled wash.

Thank you! And yeah, it's a choice.

The box art for the space hulk nids have the blue color extend all the way to their wrists. Which is alright but when I painted mine it looked like the nid was wearing a sweater....
So I opted to paint them like standard nid stealers with skin colors on their arms and keep the armour colors to just the body "shell".

And I like to keep the skin a lighter color compared to the deep blue of the shell.

6 fully done now with another two almost done.

As far as keeping up I think I'm doing alright.
Gonna try to get the nids done ASAP to allow me more time for the more elaborate models. Plus I'm probably gonna be busy towards the end of December (holiday stuff and all) so the sooner the better.

First milestone in my PPC done.
Getting the fodder nids out of the way.

They were the easiest models out of the bunch so I had to really grind these guys out quick.

22 Space Hulk Genestealers all painted up.

All I need now is the Broodlord and the Xenos from SH will be complete.
Old Broody is gonna get the star treatment soon.

Wait, do 22 genestealers really cone in the space hulk box or did you grab multiple space hulk games? I'ma have to hunt around for that space hulk game and add some genestealers to my Nids collection.

Yup, 22 Genestealers, 1 Broodlord and 12 Blood Angel terminators in one box set of Space Hulk.

If you could get a copy of the game for cheap I'd highly recommend it.

Some more PPC wip pics.

Took a few days break to visit my older sister last weekend.
Only got minimal painting done while I was there. But I'm still doing pretty good on time so I'm not too worried.

I'm calling the Broodlord as done. He looks fantastic.
Also touched up a few missing bits on Gideon.

Got lots of homework painting to do now. Hopefully I'll get the rest of squad Gideon done and a few of the Nurgle squad too.

More WIP pics.

Got two more SH terminators painted up. And also the little spell familiar from EF.

I haven't been painting at all these last 4 days. I slipped a disk in my upper back last Thursday, right between my shoulder blades.
I dunno how it happened, I was just painting. Maybe I was crouched funny or something. I just remember twisting or something and feeling my back and shoulders just crunch together. It didn't hurt at first, but after an hour I could barely bend my spine.
I ended up seeing a ciropractor and got a slight adjustment. So basically I've just been laying down trying not to move too much.

It's starting to feel more like normal so I'll be back at painting some time soon. Gonna have to try and find a new chair or way for me to paint so I don't injure myself again.

Either way I'm starting to think this PPC is a bust. I'm not gonna be able to paint all my guys on time (doctor said to limit my painting as much as possible) so I'm definitely not gonna push myself too much just for a little competition online.

That being said, I AM still dedicated to my challenge and will try to finish as much as I can before Jan.
At the very least I'll finish up the SH models and EF assassins.

We'll have to see how the next few days feel.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday.
Cheers.

Get well soon man, hope its not too bad for you. Best of luck with finishing the PPC but don't strain yourself.

Enjoy your Christmas.
P.s. space hulk terminators look great.

Last wip post until the new year.

Finally got the last two Space Hulk terminators painted.
And with that both squad Gideon and the entirety of Space Hulk is finished!

It's been over a year since I got my Space Hulk set. And it is now finally 100% all done. The board pieces are shaped properly, the custom divider for the pieces is built, and now all the minis are painted.

I'll follow this up in the new year when I get shots of the whole set in its majesty.

The last 3 pieces I'm gonna try for this year is the terminator sorcerer, and the last 2 assassins.

Got about 3 days left.

*blow kiss*
Goodnight everybody!

I'm calling an end to my Holiday Personal Painting Challenge.

Now I'm not saying "I succeeded" because I didn't end up finishing all I had on the table, but I am 100% satisfied with all that I accomplished this month. I got many of my plastic family now beautifully painted and two full game sets are totally complete.
And when I think about it, that's what my PPC is all about. Motivating myself to paint more and get my  collection finally finished.

So with all that I'm bringing my...7th(?) PPC to a close.

I'm just posting these few pics for now, but later I'll do a "year I'm review" sorta thing.
If you wanna see more pics though check out the G+ post here: https://plus.google.com/112370739975906620682/posts/hjqxrzeA9KW

Also I'll get the proper before and after shot of the Holiday PPC, and sort out how I'll do the FailWinner prize.

For now though I wish everyone a happy new year and hope your holidays have been filled with love and joy.
(And awesome 40k swag)
