Looking for good proxy models
« on: February 23, 2016, 06:33:46 PM »
Hey guys I just recently started 40k and was wondering what are good models to use for chaos princes and also I'd like a Great unclean one but I don't really like the GW one are there any good alternatives? Would a Glotkin from the age of sigmar be viable or would it be too big? Another thing I'd like would be any money saving beast of Nurgle models.

They don't save money, but the Forge World models are nearly always a massive step up in appearance to the GW ones.  Just because they are named doesn't mean that's ALL they're for.  There's a lot of Daemons in FW that can just be normal Princes.  Mamon for a Nurgle Prince for example.  Other proxies though, I can't think of any off the top of my head.  The Glotkin is that big ugly thing from Fantasy that has some guy on its back, right?  If I remember right, it was near the size of an Imperial Knight.  Too big for a Prince of any kind.

I'd also look at maybe starting with the GW model as a base and then converting if possible. One of the guys in our club ROB has some awesome CSM conversion work you can see here: http://www.exprofundis.com/blog/

The Malifaux models can sometimes work.  Depends on what style you're going for.

There's also tons of potential at Mierce Miniatures
