Discussion: Tyranids / Re: Zerg Themed Tyranid Army

I've decided to turn the infested marines into genestealers as people were a bit annoyed at the height advantage they received. Instead for termagaunts, I'll use simple termagaunt bodies with the lizardmen head and horns. Looks good and I'll be able to mass produce them again once my monetary reserves are to what I like. Even have a bit of a fluff story as to why they look a lot like tyranids.

They can only get better. Someone I know stripped the paint off his BTs from reading 7th edition (complete idiot iMO but whatever). Hopefully they will get to stand out and be unique. The morale phase might benefit them though, with removing units and all. They might be able to remove initiates instead of the neophytes

I'm actually both happy and sad with the split of Imperial and Xenos Codexes, happy that each army can more or less get their own decent sized section. Sad that I'll have to get both to field my armies :P

Brake, as in stop? Or break, as in tear apart?

I wouldn't mind if the xenon had their own boOK. Fluff and specialized not formations can be added in other supplements. Besides. We have no idea how they will present the new codexes. They could be hundreds of pages thick or just a few paragraphs of each faction

40K Rules Questions / Re: Move, Shoot(assualt weapon), Assault?

According to the rulebook, only "Pistol Weapons" and "Assault Weapons" can shoot and assault in the same turn.

They stated that all models in their range at the moment are valid. How effective they will be is another question entirely. Also stated how old marines can and will still be used and I'm sure they will stay that way. However, I have a feeling  that they will stop producing the old guys after the new edition. I think it's a solid scheme if they don't end up shooting themselves in the foot. I really like the new marines. I'm sure we'll be seeing a "reboot" of the astartes.

General Discussion / Would SH:A make a good addition to a campaign?
« on: May 11, 2017, 07:34:13 PM »
A friend and I are making up a campaign with Space Marines, Orks, and Tyranids fighting over a new founded Imperial Colony aptly named Mar Sara (cough cough). We talked about adding raids and espionage and stuff like that. Would Shadow War work nicel, or should we use the traditional 40k rules and tweak them for good effect?

Do you want to keep it strictly GW? If not, has a great selection to choose from

I am kinda excited about the potential of those international campaigns that they used to have. The players cam continue to write the story. Like the Tyranid/Ork war in the Octave us System. The new crusades of the imperium against chaos and vise versa. Elder doing something for once maybe. Necrons waking up and making an uber empire. Tau spreading the greatest of goods. I'm excited what the future holds

I'm not one to "play the meta" and all that. I'm just waiting to see what new models they drop so I can continue my converting. Even heard they might drop a new army, so I'm waiting to see if it's true.

In the same situation as you currently. Finishing up converting and painting my nids until the ice breaks. Honestly surprised they are still selling codexes for full price. Seems like a waste to buy them now since all the rage quiters will send them to half price books

What do you guys think of the new updates coming out for independent heroes? I get why they chose to keep characters from joining squads, but it doesn't make any sense. Also I wonder how a hive tyrant with tyrant guard will work with this new system.

I would love to play against an army list like this. Only problem in my opinion would be blast templates. Do Necrons that have some sort of units that gives a blanket cover?

I kinda agree witht the wings, but a pair I saw on ebay that I liked was stupid expensive. The current ones I'm using are cost effective. Also until 8th edition comes out, I'm taking a small break from this. I want to see if they add any new Tyranids or not. I'll finish up the ones I have and sit tight for the time being
