New to Daemons, planning an army (pt2)
« on: June 19, 2014, 03:26:05 AM »
So I finally went and bought me some Daemons. :D
The group I play in likes to play multiplayer games in which we take either 500pts or 750 points per player and randomly deicide who goes with who. Since some armies can be hamstrung in small points we deicided we only need one troop choice in our 500 pts lists.

So I got the following models:
Daemon Prince
10x pink horrors
20x flesh hounds (actually they are warhounds of chaos, but they are being painted as fleshounds)

Now I'm thinking of expanding to at least 750 points, 1000 pts would be nice, so more troops are needed.

I was thinking of adding more pink horrors and a herald of Khorne on a jugger, giving me the following list:

Lord of change (daemon prince as a stand in) lesser gift, 2x greater gift, ml 3
Herald of Khorne on a jugger with lesser reward and a locus of wrath

10x pink horrors
10x pink horrors

10x flesh hounds
13x flesh hounds (for the herald to run with)

I really like the idea of an assault army rather then a spawning daemon factory
any thoughts or ideas on how to make this work?
Ultramarines - 6000 points - 85% painted

Not sure the points work out, but I'd be tempted to run the daemon prince as be'lakor.  He is super this edition with the addition of jink for FMCS, and invisibility makes hounds super durable.

I'd also be tempted to run 20 hounds in one large squad, then add a squad of nurglings for objective camping, Etc.

Hmm Be'Lakor, haven't really thought of him yet.
I looked up his rules, but he is a boss!

Running 20 hounds in one pack with a herald, looks like a fun unit, allthough invisibility has to go off, or your doomed..
I'm still in between more horrors or plague bearers, plague bearers are beter obj. campers, but horrors will give an extra warp charge and they can shoot.. not to sure yet

so this will leed to the following:

Be'Lakor
Herald of Khorne, lesser gift, Icon of Wrath
10x Pink horrors
10x Pink horrors/ Plague bearers
20x Fleshhounds

15 pts left to spare

It's very few units, but I think this could be fun :)
Ultramarines - 6000 points - 85% painted

Not that invis is guaranteed but with 5+ d6 warp charges, it should go off.  That said it also allows more hounds to benefit from you herald.  The issue with the 2 smaller squads is that it is easier to render both too small to do damage.

I think in the end you may find any FMC taking up too many points at this level.  Daemons are an army that eats through points extremely fast.
