Genestealer Cult Allies
« on: March 07, 2015, 02:50:58 AM »
I am starting a converted guard detachment to represent a genestealer cult, now I turn to the guard players for advice. Bearing in mind, I want my force to act more like a terrorist force, than a proper army. So my questions are:
1. What type of equipment would a renegade force have access to?
      - and -
2. If you have any Tyranid expertise as well, what would complement my codex?
I understand these are potentially vague questions, so thank you for ANY advice you have.
Also, I should point out I'm not interested in units(as I have that figured out), so much as vehicals and wargear. Again thank you.

Well, for a genestealer cult themed force, I recommend making use of the warlord traits in the rule book. Infiltrating, outflanking, etc. AM can still take a psyker as an HQ choice right? Model him to be your genestealer patriarch. The bulk of your force can still be modeled human, but I recommend modeling ogryn to be the more brutish looking generations of genestealers. Sergeants and characters you may decide to take in vet squads and platoons should have more noticeable genestealer features as well. Since now come the apocalypse allies can be taken in the same list you can even include small squads of genestealers for some guaranteed infiltrators, maybe even a nid prime or even a flying hive tyrant for some air superiority. Honestly genestealer cults can work as long as you can get creative with rules and units.
Don't try making a unit unkillable. its a waste of time and the dice gods laugh at you for wasting your time. Dedicate a unit to a job and make sure it does it til it's either dead or running.
